Reggae musician and radio presenter, Blakk Rasta, has poured out his condolence message to veteran Reggae musician known as Ras Kimono.
Blakk Rasta on his Twitter handle said, “he has lost a father who mentored him as a Reggae musician”.
According to his tweet, “I lost my father this morning in Lagos, Nigeria. He taught me all I know in Reggae today. Daddy Ras ‘Dub Master’ Kimono… Rest In Power. Keep rocking the Reggae yonder there. I miss you already… Papa!”.
Known in real life as Ukeleke Onwubya aka Ras Kimono died following a brief illness.
He passed away on Sunday morning in Lagos at Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi.
Ras Kimono was known for the hit singles ‘Under Pressure’ and ‘We no want’.
Family sources indicated that, he was scheduled to travel to the United States last Saturday night, but complained of not feeling too well.
He was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, then later taken to Lagoon Hospital in the Island. Music veterans, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina Peters confirmed the incident.
Ras Kimono was one of the veterans from the 90’s who continued to remain relevant on the music scene, mentoring and contributing to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
