REPORTS reaching Today indicates that fear has gripped scores of residents at Santa-Maria Last Stop in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
This frightening situation, which happened on Friday, September 27, 2019, Today learnt, followed robbery attacks on scores of people from Kwahu communities who were attending the final funeral rites of a female leading member of Santa Maria Last Stop branch of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, Mrs Juliana Ayesu, popularly called Mammy Kwahu.
The robbery attacks on the mourners of Mammy Kwahu, which occurred at 4:50 a.m., dawn on Friday, September 27, 2019 has caused fear among residents of Santa-Maria Last Stop.
Today understands that the mourners of the late woman were robbed at the private house of the deceased’s husband, Mr Thomas Ayesu, who is an Elder of Santa Maria Last Stop branch of Apostolic Church of Ghana when they assembled at the main hall of the house to do morning devotion.
The victims, Today gathered, were stranded in the area since many of them completely lost all their clothes they had brought to the funeral to wear to mourn their beloved late Mr Julian Ayesu. Today was told that the attacks on Mammy Kwahu’s funeral mourners was not the only robbery incident at Santa Maria Last Stop, but the residents stated that the area has become a safe haven for many hardened criminal activities.
The suspected hardened criminals who are boys between the age bracket of 14 to 21, according to information available Today, can be seen in very dreaded moves in every midnight at Hill-Top Preparatory School in the area.
The residents told Today that even though they had reported such robbery attacks to the police nothing seems to be done about it.
They pointed out that somewhere in August 2019 some gang of armed robbers attacked a house near Hill-Top Preparatory School.
They further recounted that on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 armed robbers attacked a house also near Hill-Top Preparatory School and robbed a female teacher of her monies and properties.
They went on to disclose to Today that somewhere in March 2019 armed robbers invaded some houses near Santa Maria Last Stop lorry station and robbed businessmen and women.
To this end, the worried residents called on the police in the area to up their game in arresting these armed robbers who continue their nefarious activities almost on daily basis.
