The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has informed all business and property owners that it has begun its 2018 Revenue Mobilisation Exercise (RME) to collect all monies owed the assembly.
In a statement signed and issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of AMA, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, and copied to Today in Accra yesterday, the city authority advised business and property owners to leave receipts of payments behind when leaving their businesses or premises since the assembly will not entertain any excuses.
The statement stressed that a penalty would be charged on defaulters as specified in the Local Government Act 936, section 181 clause 1,2a and 2b which states that, “A District Assembly may make bye-laws for the purpose of any function conferred on that District Assembly by this Act or any other enactment.”
“Property owners are to note that, AMA collectors would be working during the early hours of the day and on weekends to ensure that all monies owed the assembly are collected,” it maintained.
Additionally, the statement pointed out that ratepayers were requested to support this very important exercise to enable the assembly to carry out its metropolitan duties.
