Former Ghana coach, Akwasi Appiah, has missed out on becoming the head coach of Sudan after the Sudan Football Association made its final shortlist.
The Sudan football governing body yesterday shortlisted Belgian trainer, Ronny Van Geneugden, and Frenchman, Hubert Velud, for the vacant role.
In the next 48 hours, one of the shortlisted coaches will be named the new head coach of Sudan, replacing Zdravko Logarusic whose contract wasn’t renewed after its expiration in December 2019.
The 59-year-old was in advanced negotiations with the Sudan Football Association over a possible takeover of the vacant national team job.
It was, however, being rumoured that the demands of the former Black Stars gaffer were too high for the Sudan Football Association who have opted for one—the Belgian or the Frenchman.
Sudan Football Association preferred Appiah for the job following his successful spell at Al Khartoum Watani SC from 2014 to 2017.
