Pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has expressed misgivings at the treatment meted out to law students who demonstrated in Accra yesterday.
In a statement signed and issued by the leadership of AFAG and copied to Today yesterday, the group noted that, the action by the security forces was not only proper, but a slap in the promotion of the very rights “our Constitution bestows on us.”
The era of using rubber bullets and spraying of water from cannons on demonstrators is long gone.
“We are using this medium to condemn, in no uncertain terms, the action by the police and call for an immediate investigation,” the statement stressed.
The statement urged the ministry of interior and the Police Administration to suspend all commanding officers on duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
