Ghana Premier League (GPL), reigning champions, Aduana Stars have made it into the group stages of a continental club competition after two failed attempts.
The Dormaa based side made this historic achievement into the group stage of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Confederations Cup, after beating Malagasy side Fosa Juniors 7-3 on aggregate.
This follows their elimination from the CAF Champions League and their subsequent drop to the lower tier thus the CAF Confederations Cup.
The ‘Ogya Boys’ won 6-1 in the first leg at their Nana Agyemang Badu Park but lost 2-1 on Wednesday in the second leg away at the Stade Rademananajara in Madagascar.
Fosa Juniors took an early lead through an early minute spot-kick. They added another goal to make it 2-0 ten minutes after recess.
Aduana striker, Nathaniel Asamoah pulled one for Ghanain champions in the 68th minute to give them a consolation.
Aduana Stars become the first Ghanaian team since Medeama in 2016 to make it this far in any CAF club competition.
The draw for the group stage is slated for Saturday, April 21 in Cairo.
