The eighth annual Africa Human Resource (HR) Leaders conference under the theme “Leading Africa’s HR Professionals to Success at the Future Workplace” is open in Accra.
The 2-days conference which is organised by the OML Africa brought together HR practitioners from both the private and public sector in Ghana.
Addressing the participants at the conference, the Managing Director of OML Africa, Mrs Anita Wiafe-Asinor explained that the annual HR event is widely regarded as the leading event that brings together over 150 senior executives from the Human Resources, Benefit & Reward, Strategy, Talent, Organisational Development & Learning fields, etc.
According to Mrs Wiafe-Asinor the conference provides practitioners with the opportunity to gain valuable education; training and best practices to assist you; a practical introduction to the latest in HR technology and Human Capital Management tools.
She opined that the organisational challenges of engaging and retaining the best and most talented employees continues to rank high on the agendas of most HR and business leaders in Africa.
“The constant technological changes, skills shortage for specific industries in many in-demand job roles only adds to the need to improve talent-management practices in Africa.
“HR leaders can no longer be passive drivers of talent management acquisition but instead must become strategic active leaders of talent management and secession planning” Mrs. Wiafe-Asinor added.
For the day running the following key speakers will run participants through the following: Philip Oti-Mensah, Executive Director, OmniBSIC who will co-chair a session on Mergers and Acquisitions-The Role of HR, and Dr. Olayiwola Oladapo, Director Strategy, Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations, CIPM Nigeria will share” The New World of Work: Strategic Imperatives for Work, the Workplace and the Workforce in Africa” as we venture into the realm of the Future of Work.
Dr Mrs Bernice Welbeck, Admin and HR Director, Ghana Labour Commission will open the Pandora’s Box on “Termination of Employment-The Legal Requirements”. Whiles Mrs. Anita Wiafe-Asinor, Managing Consultant, OML Africa will reveal the secrets behind “How to Set Challenging HR Targets and Evaluate the Real Performance of the HR Department”
