1997 year Group of Accra New Town Experimental 1 JHS donates to Alma mater

The 1997 year Group of Accra New Town Experimental One (1) JHS has donated items worth GHC22, 000 to the management and students of the school to help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The items include; 18,000 pieces of face masks, 10 pieces of sanitizer dispensers for all class entrances, three gallons of 5litre sanitizer, four gallons (5litre) of liquid soaps, and 150 packs of tissues.

 

The group also gave out some study materials comprising: 1,800 pieces of exercise books, 18 pieces of Teachers Note Books, 600 pieces of rulers, and 600 pieces of BIC pens to support the efforts of parents in ensuring that students get adequate materials for their studies.

 

Making the donation on behalf of the group, the president of the group, Mr. Prince Kudjo Agbomadzi, said the group saw the need to donate the items to help the school manage the spread of Coronavirus.

 

He said apart from that the group has been supporting their Alma mater to help make it one of the best schools in the country.

 

Mr. Agbomadzi, added that his year group has resolved to compliment the efforts of the management of the school periodically to ensure the school operates in a sound and serene environment.

 

He however appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school by constructing more classrooms for the school to ease the excessive pressure on existing infrastructure since the population of the school has doubled over the years.

 

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Nyavor, who received the items, thanked the group for their kind gesture and asked other year groups to emulate the shining example of the 1997 year group.

 

Mr. Nyavor urged the Association to support the school to solve some of its many challenges, to speed up the school’s development.

 

He said the work on new bungalows for tutors had stalled since 2016 and the contractor had abandoned the project due to lack of funds.

On the COVID-19 Protocols. The headmaster of Accra New Town Experimental 1 JHS said the management has decongested classrooms, distributed nose masks, and veronica buckets placed at vantage points on the compound in line with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) directives.

 

He assured parents that the school authorities would never flout COVID-19 pandemic protocols, but would ensure the safety of the students while in school.

 

Also present at the presentation ceremony was the Vice President of the year group Mr. Benjamin Quashie who single-handedly mobilized the PPEs which were donated to the school.

 

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayensuano constituency, Mr. Teddy Safori Addi, and the immediate past president of the year group Mr. Israel Nornyibey.

 

Others were the Secretary: Vida Asabre Oppong, Deputy Secretary: Golda Danso Hope, Treasurer: Joyce Sandra Bokpe, Deputy Treasurer: Esther Ababio, Organiser: Edwin Agyiri, Deputy Organiser: Ransford Etse Amaglo, Welfare; Abigail Mensa-Kena, Benjamin Appiah Darko and Bernice Hotor-Bibio and the International Relations Officer/Media: Richard Sly Delaedem.
