Hundreds of people from Nima and its surrounding communities in the Ayawaso East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have benefited from a free health screening exercise organised by the 2016 parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Peter Mireku.
The exercise, formed part of activities lined up by the, 2016 NPP PC and the party, to provide free health services to community members at their doorsteps.
The health screening was a collaboration between the Mr. Mireku and the constituency executives with support from the NPP Royal Ladies.
A team of health workers from the Pentecost Hospital, Madina-Accra screened the participants for hypertension, diabetes, hepatitis, malaria, and other diseases.
The beneficiaries were given basic drugs for their various ailments while those with serious conditions were recommended to seek further medical attention at health facilities.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Today, leader of the medical team, Madam Rebecca Kumah, commended the people for the massive patronage, saying “It demonstrates how they prioritise their health.”
She was particularly happy about the calibre of people who trooped in to check their health including children, adults and the aged.
When asked what motivated him to organise the health screening exercise, the 2016 NPP PC for the Ayawaso East constituency answered in the affirmative, saying, he prioritises the health of his people.
“I’m doing this to ensure that my constituents live long to enjoy the good policies of NPP and Nana Addo led administration. As you know the wealth of every community is their health thus this exercise to give healthcare to the underprivileged,” Mr Mireku hinted.
He was of the opinion that leaders had a key role to play in social development by touching lives and influencing positive change in society.
Mr Mireku disclosed that he was going to embark on various activities such as clean-up exercises and donations to institutions within his catchment area in the coming months.
