Fire yesterday gutted a three football pitch-size main warehouse of Kingdom Books and Stationery at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
Firefighters had a torrid time in dousing the fire five hours since it started.
Properties mainly office stationery and furniture worth millions of Ghana cedis were consumed by the blaze which affected four of the warehouses leaving six untouched.
The fire, according to reports, started around 7 a.m., Sunday and its cause was unknown as at the time of going to press.
The warehouse serves as the main storage depot of the stationery firm in Ghana.
Five fire tenders were deployed to the scene to salvage the situation.
According to fire officials they had challenges with access to water to combat the fire.
“The company itself has fire hydrants but unfortunately the pumps failed and was restored later but the pressure is not effective,” Divisional Officer Grade 1 Osafo Affum of the Ghana Fire Service at Tema told the media.
As of the time of filing this report, Kingdom Books was yet to officially comment on the fire incident.
Kingdom has over 20 years experience in supplying quality office essentials, equipment and furniture.
